By Christine Mann, an experienced piano teacher with over 15 years experience tutoring children and adults alike, to advanced players up to and including grade 8
I have worked as a peripatetic piano/keyboard teacher employed by West Sussex Music Service and
on a self-employed basis. I have taught children, in both state and independent schools, from 5 through to 18 years.
I have successfully entered pupils for ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall practical and the new performance virtual exams (up to and including grade 8). I also enter pupils into local Music festivals some of whom have won their categories.
I am setup to teach virtually as a result of the pandemic and have embraced the use of technology and continue to do so. I use interactive music apps which children enjoy. I record and provide videos of difficult sections of music that pupils find challenging. This supports pupils when practicing at home.
Additionally. I teach Music theory in small groups whilst practical piano lessons are on a one to one
basis.
No pupils come to me. I offer a calm and relaxing environment, so that pupils get the best out of their lesson time.
I do my best to reschedule. If a lesson is cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice I will be forced to charge.
Pupils do BACS transfers into my business account. Payment can be made on the day or you
may prefer to play for a block of lessons. For school/college pupils I ask the number of
lessons corresponds to the number of weeks in any given term.
I ask for three weeks’ notice to be given enabling me to fill the relevant slot.
